Candidates, who will be appearing for Maharashtra Common Law Entrance Test this year, need to know the MH CET Law 2017 syllabus as it will help them in better preparation for the state-level law entrance exam. The MH CET Law syllabus is set of subject-areas and important topics for the Maharashtra state law entrance examination. MH CET Law Syllabus 2017: Do you know?

The BCI had written to Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell regarding syllabus for MH CET Law on February 9, 2017 after which the CET Cell of Maharashtra state held its Legal Education Advisory Committee meeting on February 20, 2017 and brought out the syllabus of MH CET Law.

Let us go through the syllabus of MH CET Law 2017 for each of the undergraduate state-level law programmes. But before that, candidates also need to understand MH CET Law exam pattern 2017, which mentions structure of the MH CET Law question paper, its marking scheme, examination mode, timing and allotted marks.

According to the exam pattern of Maharashtra CET Law, the DHE Maharashtra will be conducting an online MH CET Law 2017 which will be administered for two hours (120 minutes). Candidates will have to answer as many as 150 questions of one mark each, which will be given in English and Marathi languages for all sections except English section. Besides these information of MH CET Law 2017 exam pattern and syllabus, while the exam for five-year integrated law programmes will have questions from five sections, that for three-year law programmes will have questions from four sections. MH CET Law Syllabus 2017: Five-year and three-year integrated law programme

Candidates can check below MH CET Law 2017 syllabus for the five-year as well as three-year law programmes. The syllabi for both undergraduate law entrance exams of Maharashtra state are same, except for the section Mathematical Aptitude which is only for 5-year integrated law programmes and is not present in MH CET Law for three-year LLB programmes.

  1. English – The section consists of questions focusing various areas including Vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, analogies etc.), Proficiency (idioms and phrases, one word substitution, improvement and rearrangement of sentences, fill in the blanks etc.), English usage errors (common errors, spotting errors in sentence, inappropriate usage of words, spelling mistakes etc.) and English comprehension and passages.

  2. General Knowledge with Current Affairs - The questions from this section include topics such as History (Ancient, Medieval and Modern), Geography, General Science, Economics, and Civics, besides issues from the last one year mentioned as Current Affairs. The objective of this section is to assess candidates’ knowledge of recent happenings and awareness of the world.

  3. Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning – The section tests candidates’ interest towards study of law and thus comprises questions concerning legal aptitude and problem solving abilities. The questions are framed with the help of legal prepositions and set of facts to which the said prepositions need to be applied. Some prepositions may not be true in the real sense and candidates need to assume fact of these prepositions (prepositional truth) and answer the questions drawing well supported conclusions.

  4. Logical and Analytical Reasoning – The section tests candidates’ ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It includes questions relating to wide analogies, completing arguments, drawing well supported conclusions, reasoning by analogies, applying principles and rules. Further, the objective of this section is to measure the ability to understand structure, relationship and to draw logical conclusions about the structures. It includes reasoning from set of statements and rules and principles that describes the relationship among persons, things or events.

  5. Mathematical Aptitude – This section is to test the candidates’ interest for Mathematics which would broadly include numerical ability. The Mathematical questions will be of standard 10th including various topics like profit and loss, speed and distance, time and work, algebra, average, and venn diagram.
